The Children’s Hour

So went and saw The Children’s Hour at The Comedy Theatre last night,  mostly to see if Kiera could actually act.  I have seen her in a couple of films; Bend it Like Beckham and Atonement for example and have never been convinced of her acting ability, nor her beauty…

Although completely upstaged by the devil child (although she is actually 26!) as are the rest of the talented and award strewn cast, Kiera holds her own and gets her stage defining monologue in the final act which she delivers with moving bravura that is offset beautifully by Ellen Burstyn’s mature and controlled performance of the dominating matriarch.

So a powerful performance all around and well directed for sure – but not the most uplifting story ever told for sure!
